How to Measure Yourself Correctly
Accurate measurements = better recommendations
Measuring Height
Stand straight against a wall without shoes. Use a book or ruler on top of your head, mark the wall, and measure from floor to mark.
Measuring Weight
Use a digital scale on a hard, flat surface. For best accuracy, measure at the same time each day.
After Calculation
Adjust your current setup incrementally. Small changes of 0.5" can make a big difference in comfort.
🧮 How Our Calculator Works
Our calculator uses evidence-based ergonomic formulas to determine your ideal setup.
The 90° Ergonomic Principle
Proper ergonomic posture follows the 90° rule: your elbows, hips, and knees should all form approximately 90° angles when seated.
- Elbows at 90°: Prevents shoulder strain and wrist discomfort
- Hips at 90°: Keeps thighs parallel to the ground
- Knees at 90°: Promotes circulation and reduces leg fatigue
- Feet flat: Provides stability and lower back support
Our Formulas
Based on research published in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Hygiene:
Height (cm) × 0.45 + 2 = Desk Height (cm)
Height (cm) × 0.25 - 2 = Chair Height (cm)
Seated Desk Height + 3-4 inches = Standing Height

Common Questions
What if I'm between two sizes?
If you're between heights, we recommend starting with the larger size and using the adjustment features. Most quality ergonomic chairs and desks have a range of 3-4 inches of adjustability.
Do these numbers work for standing desks?
Yes! For standing desks, add about 3-4 inches to the desk height. Your elbows should be at 90° when typing, whether sitting or standing.
Should I change my setup right away?
We recommend gradual changes. Adjust your current setup by 0.5" per day and see how your body responds. This helps you adapt without strain.
How accurate are these calculations?
Our calculations are based on ergonomic research and the 90° rule. They provide an excellent starting point, but individual comfort may vary based on arm length, torso proportions, and personal preference.
